John Moore Countryside Museum & The Merchant's House
Two extraordinary museums set in a unique row of restored 15th Century
timber framed buildings, nestled beneath Tewkesbury Abbey. The John
Moore is dedicated to the writer and conservationist John Moore, with
three floors devoted to natural history and countryside inhabitants -
flora, fauna and human, and a lovely cottage garden. This is a museum
for those who love the countryside or would like to know more about it.
The museum welcomes artists who want to use the collection of animals as models!
You
are also welcome to visit the Merchant's House, beautifully restored to
show the construction of a late medieval shop and home. This unusual
museum is often used for Tudor living history days and is particularly
useful for teachers explaining the Tudors.
