Nature in Art, Twigworth
Nature in Art is unique - a museum displaying the widest range of nature-inspired art in the world.
"Nature i n Art really lifts the spirits"
National Heritage Museum of the Year Awards judges' report.
Within the fine Georgian mansion you'll find a truly diverse range of world class art: displays embrace two and three-dimensional work in all mediums and styles ranging from Picasso to Shepherd. Spanning 1500 years, the collection contains work by 600 artists from over 50 countries. So typically, as well as a temporary exhibition, you'll find watercolour landscapes, contemporary glass, the Flemish masters, modern abstract interpretations, bronze sculpture and even some exotic oriental treasures. With all this variety you're sure to make plenty of discoveries.
Our younger visitors can touch some sculptures, create animal brass
rubbings, experiment with various materials, investigate with activity
sheets and explore the garden and outdoor playground.
Meet Artists at Work!
Artists from across the world work at the museum during all opening
hours between February and November. You can see an expert painting,
sculpting, woodcarving, printing or creating with glass or textiles -
or practising many other art forms! On average 60 artists and makers demonstrate each year.
YOU CAN ALSO ...
Enjoy light meals and home-made
cakes in the licensed Hayward coffee shop, overlooking the garden. In the
sculpture garden, you can relax whilst exploring dramatic art forms set
amongst tranquil nature. We also offer a varied programme of art
courses, talks, children's holiday activity sessions and other events
throughout the year. A purpose built education centre with dedicated staff provides an award winning education programme for schools. Please ask for further details!
